How can I / we become involved in the life of the school community?

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their children’s education at St Francis of Assisi. Ways you can help in your child’s classroom might be reading with children, taskboard groups or covering books in the Library. Other ways of becoming involved are volunteering to help in the canteen, attending special days and events such as school liturgies or performances, helping at special events such as sporting carnivals, school fetes or assisting getting costumes and props together for performances.  Families are also encouraged to attend mass in St Francis of Assisi Parish.

How can I / we become involved in the life of the school community?

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their children’s education at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School.  Ways you can help in your child’s classroom are listed above.  Other ways of becoming involved are volunteering to help in the canteen, attending special days and events such as school liturgies or performances, helping at special events such as sporting carnivals and our International Food Fair.

All are invited to become members of the Parents and Friends Committee, who work collaboratively with the school and parish community about matters regarding quality education for all children, and general issues about school life, including social events, fundraising and finances.

Will I be able to come and help in the classroom?

St Francis welcomes parents and grandparents to help in the classrooms. Each grade will be different, but parents often participate and contribute in the classroom.  This could include helping with reading and literacy programs, mathematics groups, technology, craft, or by offering expertise in a particular area of interest, such as Indigenous Education or Music.

Is there an anti-bullying policy in place at the school?

St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School does not tolerate bullying in any form. All members of the school community are committed to ensuring a safe and caring environment, which promotes personal growth and positive self-esteem.

St Francis of Assisi staff communicate anti-bullying plans and procedures to parents and the wider community through annual parent information nights, newsletter items, regular staff meetings and whole school assemblies.

Regular class lessons that are incorporated into the Religious Education or Personal Development Program will address the issue of bullying and raise awareness among the students. All students are constantly encouraged to speak to any staff member with whom they feel comfortable regarding any problems.
